Volunteers Needed for Franklin's Sports Day

Sir John Franklin Elementary School is in need for volunteers for their sports day on May 21 (Friday). Approximately 30 volunteers are needed in total. This would be a good opportunity for those who are still in need to acquire community service hours towards graduation.

If you are interested in helping out, please let me know as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please see me or Mr. Mustapich for details.

Volunteering Experience at Garibaldi Annex

Attention Grade 12 students who are in need of service hours: Garibaldi Annex is looking for students who demonstrate computer literacy to teach a group of parents basic computer operations. While these parents' skills vary, most of them would need some very basic mentoring in learning about browsing the Internet, checking and answering e-mails, and similar operations. You do not need to be a computer whiz or expert to help; however, we would like to recruit students who are patient and have good people skills.

Here are some additional details:

Number of Positions: up to six - one for each of the six time slots
Who are we assisting: Mostly ESL parents who have limited computer literacy
Time: alternating Mondays: 1st or 2nd period; alternating Wednesdays: 1st period (you must have a study/spare block during this time to qualify)
Location: Garibaldi Annex (1025 Slocan Street, Vancouver, B.C.)
Skills Required: basic computer literacy; ability to speak Cantonese is a bonus, but not a requirement

If you are interested, please come in to see me for further details/questions.

Remember: you need to have worked/volunteered a combined 30 hours at least to fulfill one of graduation transitions' requirements. If you know you will be short a few hours, this would be a good opportunity for you to acquire some important time towards that 30-hour requirement.
